Family Rights Advocacy Institute

news:

Hawaii Family Advocate Johnny Rayford was targeted by caseworkers from CPS who did not like what he said about CPS, or that he sponsored training for families, and more. So they made sure he had no place to work and no access to potential clients by filing a complaint against him with Hawaii Community Action Program, the non-profit which gave him his office space and referred clients to him. So he sued them and won. This suit is a valuable model to advocates (and, dare I say - Federal Courts in other circuits) - as to the consequences that state actors can and should suffer when they retaliate against family advocates or act to violate their civil rights. CP$ ended up contributing nicely to Hawaii Family Advocacy Center.  Order denying defendant’s motion to dismiss     Article

FRAI is now the National Educational Division of Families First Partnership, a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation. What does this mean?
Have you wanted to sponsor an FRAI training seminar but couldn’t afford the expense? Now you can apply for a grant to cover the expenses!
Have you wanted to make a tax deductible donation to FRAI? Now, you can!

Advocates:

January 17, 2006 - This is to notify all Ann Durand and Doug Hardigree (FL) have had their certifications revoked. They had been on probationary status since on or about Aug. 7, 2005. They NO longer hold certification as Family Rights Advocates and we disavow any and all association with them. Futhermore, the Institute has had no official contact with them nor been able to exercise oversight over their practice since they were put on probation, therefore the Institute absolves itself of any responsibility for their actions or practice since Aug. 7, 2005.
September 12, 2005 - This is to notify all that Paula McIntosh is no longer affiliated with the Family Rights Advocacy Institute. She does not hold certification as a Family Rights Advocate and we disavow any and all association with her.
August 14, 2005 - It has come to our attention that as of today, among other things, Ms. Swallow is broadcasting confidential client information obtained during the course of advocacy on the Internet where it can be accessed by CPS agents and used against the parents in their cases. This is in violation of Institute policy and we condemn this impulsive, self-serving and harmful action by Ms. Swallow in the strongest terms possible. As for her other wild rantings and accusations, we will not dignify any of them with a response and we’ll simply wait for the outcome to speak for itself.
August 11, 2005 This is to notify all that Brenda Swallow is no longer affiliated with the Family Rights Advocacy Institute. She does not hold certification as a Family Rights Advocate and we disavow any and all association with her
